JAMES CREED:
My recent music is concerned with simple materials, even simpler processes, unfixed structures, clowning, and experimental notations – these elements balance to varying degrees in any given piece but are usually all present. More generally my music also tends to be quiet and slow, without the need for much rehearsal or training.
I am based in Leeds; I grew up in Berkshire (b. 1993) and hold both UK and USA citizenship. I came to composition and experimental music in my twenties after earlier years playing in bands and making music that was louder than mine tends to be now, though it's all in there somewhere. I later studied at Goldsmiths (BMus, 2020) and the University of Leeds. I am currently pursuing a practice-based PhD, again at the University of Leeds.
