Dogo du Togo & The Alagaa Beat Band
West African psychedelic voodoo trance meets funk, afrobeat, and ritual rhythms.
Emerging from Lomé, Togo, Dogo du Togo & The Alagaa Beat Band bring a high-energy fusion of psychedelic rock, funk, and traditional voodoo trance rhythms. The genre-defying 'Alagaa Beat' is built on Togolese ritual melodies and social themes like immigration and justice. Led by Massama Dogo—also founder of DC-based afropop group Elikeh—the band delivers a trance-inducing live experience that channels Togo’s rich musical and cultural heritage.
Their live sets are a hypnotic blend of ancestral rhythms, Mina and Mami pentatonic scales from Vodún traditions, and raw funk power. This is a deeply rooted, yet genre-expanding West African sound you don’t want to miss.
