Biota: 2025 Invitational Exhibition
Group art exhibition exploring flora, fauna, and Pittsburgh's creative ecology.
Biota refers to the plant and animal life of a region—a particular biological community formed in response to the physical environment and climate. In this 2025 invitational exhibition, the featured works highlight flora, fauna, and human figures, showcasing life in many forms.
The participating artists form a creative biome born of Pittsburgh's distinct landscape—nestled in Appalachia, shaped by steel and industry, and infused with lush nature. With this show, we invite you to consider biota not just as living systems, but as a creative community—and to reflect on your place within it.
Artists include: Sandra Bacchi, Sarah Cohen, Tim Englehardt, Annie Heisey, Bryan McCormick, Laura Jean McLaughlin, Saihou Njie, Sophia Marie Pappas, Curtis Reaves, John Burt Sanders, Zoë Welsh, and Kara Zuzu.
Presented by Pittsburgh Center For Arts & Media.
