Emerging from the shadows of being “just” an ex-Dag Nasty band, Field Day are developing into a powerhouse in their own right, and writing new songs. Their debut 7" "Field Day 2.0", selling out quickly with German distributors Core Tex and spreading to the US through Revelation. It exceeded all expectations in reigniting the original spirit of the Dag Nasty sound. Now, the lineup of Peter Cortner on vocals, Doug Carrion on bass, Shay Mehrdad on guitars and Kevin Avery on drums has delivered the EP "Opposite Land."
They also have a brand new track released on May 28, called "Invitation."
Despite a million bands playing the melodic hardcore sound, when it comes to the roots, there are three to look back on: Dag Nasty, 7 Seconds and Bad Religion. The members of Field Day were actually there, and the EP's “Tell Me Now” features a tribute to old peers 7 Seconds with the woah-oh intro and uplifting guitar melodies. Given that Kevin Seconds once almost became a member of Dag Nasty, perhaps this is a playful nod to what could have been some thirty years or so back. Music should be moving and passionate, and this second chapter of the Field Day story has that emotion and drive by the bucketload.
